Once a Legend - Dhoni (11/July/2019)

Since 2014, Dhoni was never Dhoni. His strategy of extra caution, until you reach 49th over, has failed too often. No doubt he was capable to haunt any bowler in the world, but his mindset made him a burden.

What would have been the score if Jadeja was not playing with him yesterday? His 6 to starc in this world cup is shot of the tournament for me, he so effortlessly hits 100-meter sixes, but the problem is he did not try a single one till 49 over.

The long tail of India gave this cushion to say 'Oh he plays with tailender so he has to play that way' but who stopped you to play at 4/5?

India's both Number 4 selection this tournament, x-factor Pant & 3D Shankar, has not scored a single 50 in their career yet. Yet leaving Raydu for them was idiocy of BCCI, but why Dhoni could not take that role. Pant, Pandya, DK suited more for what Dhoni is trying to do for the last 5 years and constantly failing.

Yes he is still a legend, yes he has given so many unforgettable memories to us, yes once occupied by Nayan Mongia, Ajay Ratra, Saba Karim, he shattered the Image of wicketkeeper-batsman for us. But please accept the fact that you are not in the league of Modern cricket anymore.

Take a graceful decision and Retire.
