He was 20 when he was given Debut against #India in 1990 on account of some sensational domestic Performances.
He scored 0 & 0.
He got his second chance against Austalia in 1992.
He scored 0 & 1.
The third chance came in 1994 against India.
He scored 0 & 0.
In 1996, he was given yet another chance and this time he scored the second run of his career.
The highest score in his first 9 Tests was 29.
Today we know him as one of the most prolific SriLankan cricketers, technically third only to Jayawardene & Sangakkara. Scored 16 Test Centuries, out of which 6 were Double centuries. He captained SriLankan side and after retiring, also became National coach.
No, my intentions are not to motivate you. I am interested in, what if he was not given ample chances?
